Drumming

Andrew has been a drummer since he was five years old. Though he played in school bands (concert, jazz and marching) and garage bands (rock and ska), his specialty has always been Scottish pipe band drumming.

In his drumming career - now spanning over two decades - Andrew has played in several successful pipe bands and has also achieved many accolades as a soloist on snare drum and bass drum. His successes as a competitor and performer, and his love of this unique artform, were translated into a path as a teacher for Scottish drumming starting around the age of sixteen.

A few years later, just after turning nineteen, Andrew became an adjudicator for pipe band drumming competitions. He holds judging credentials for solo snare drum, solo tenor and bass drum, band drumming and band ensemble categories. Andrew now serves as a mentor judge for new apprentices and also as a member of the Western US Pipe Band Association Music Board.

As you can tell, drumming is more of a lifestyle than a hobby for Andrew. As such, in 2003 he founded a service called ScottishDrumming.com - to promote professional education and leadership within the world of pipe band drumming. You can visit the website to find out more about Andrew's drumming career, the many services he provides, and the quality faculty he has assembled.
